Three people are being charged for their alleged involvement in breaking into a Pennsylvania Skills Machine at a local gas station and stealing over $5,400. Kris J. Nevling, 43, of Clearfield is charged by Lawrence Township police with felony theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property, plus related misdemeanor offenses.

Stephanie A. Mando, 42, of Curwensville is charged with felony conspiracy/receiving stolen property and conspiracy/theft by unlawful taking. Daniel Wayne Wetzel, 36, of Mahaffey is charged with felony conspiracy/receiving stolen property and conspiracy/theft by unlawful taking, plus one summary. The charges stem from a theft from a Pennsylvania Skills Machine at the BP gas station, Clearfield, on Feb. 1, according to the affidavit of probable cause. The caller, a representative from Miele Amusements, reported Feb. 2 that someone had pried open one of the store’s skills machines and cash had been stolen from inside.

PAGE was launched in 2021 by Parx Casino to urge lawmakers to address the unchecked explosion of so-called “skill games” in Pennsylvania, which the Office of Attorney General maintains are illegal gaming devices. PAGE continues to support legislation to eliminate tens of thousands of unregulated, unsupervised, and untaxed games from communities across Pennsylvania. These games can be magnets for crime. They offer no protections to prevent underage gaming and drain hundreds of millions in revenue from the Pennsylvania Lottery.
